Thailand Mission Trip 2024
How differently would we live if we knew that Jesus will return any day?
Pastor Steve pointed out that a mission trip is a finite and concentrated time to “live with the end in mind”, to devote our entire energy and attention to the gospel mission. On a mission trip, we were continually stretched to put ourselves in a position where we can see the world the way God sees it.
This trip humbled me because I am reminded in a fresh way (through the stories of our foreign mission team and the testimonies of the Thai Christians) how precious it is to have even just one soul saved into the kingdom. Seeing the lives of the foreign missions team members challenged me in many ways - approaching and talking to strangers is just something they do regularly, so it's not a huge drama that they have to work up to. It was moving to see them getting excited about a Thai student's spiritual progress more than anything else.
Despite various obstacles such as the language barrier, intense heat, and a nerve-racking last-minute venue change, this mission trip gave everyone a new perspective on how to live Christian life, to embrace suffering joyfully for the sake of the gospel.
2 Corinthians 5:14-15
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
