Filter of Hope - Costa Rica mission trip
“This was my first international mission trip, and the hype around mission trips is true! I went in feeling distant from God and left feeling revitalized and in touch with the Gospel again.
Back home, it can be easy to get distracted and caught up in life, but while in Costa Rica, I had the chance to remove myself from distractions, like my phone. I was able to be fully present with the people around me as we went out to install water filters and share the Gospel.
And as I shared the Gospel to others, it made the Gospel become more alive for myself. The more I shared the Gospel, the deeper my own convictions grew. I left with Ephesians 2:8 becoming more than just something I had to memorize as homework, but something that I value dearly. The Gospel is truly a gift that I hope everyone can experience for themselves and share with people. Going on mission is a great opportunity to do it!”

“Sharing the Gospel to others made the Gospel become more alive for myself. ”
“Having to preach the gospel to others pushed me to know Christianity better and get the grey parts of my understanding cleared up. I didn’t know I needed this challenge, but I am thankful for that experience since it led me to become more confident in God and what I believe.”
-Mary, freshman at UW
“This mission trip helped me to grow in my faith and gave me the confidence to share it with my non-christian friends and family. I was reminded everyday of the importance of the Gospel and the profound impact it has on people's lives. I was inspired by both my mentors and peers as well as the other missionaries we met at Word of Life to rise to the challenge of reaching out and sharing the Gospel even when it is difficult. My biggest takeaway from this mission trip is that the work of sharing the Gospel isn't limited to foreign missions or church services, but is rather an ongoing endeavor which ought to be a part of all aspects of one's life.”
-Charles, freshman at UW
