Bros Timothy Group Recap

What is Timothy Group?

Last year before fall quarter, we asked if students wanted to be a part of Timothy Group, a special opt-in leadership opportunity offered to the Christian upperclassmen at our church.

The name “Timothy Group” came from Timothy in the Bible, who was personally ministered by Apostle Paul. Just like how Paul trained and mentored Timothy to do ministry in his church, this is a growth opportunity for our upperclassmen to be trained and equipped by our college mentors.

Signing up for Timothy Group (TG) means these students will have completed previous discipleship content, and are willing to receive further feedback and training in ministry. The goal of Timothy Group is ultimately so that each TG student would grow in their relationship with God and share in God's heart for the world.

Matthew 9:35-38

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

It has been exciting and encouraging to see the upperclassmen mature in their faith as they serve, doing outreach at various college campuses, and seeing their lives becoming a blessing to many younger ones. We’re thankful for these students who are committed to grow in their obedience to the mission of the gospel!

Here’s some of their sharings:

“Being a part of Timothy Group is a chance for me to be the older bro for the younger guys, similar to how some of my mentors were to me a couple years ago. It can be tiring but I’m glad I’m putting my time into this as I graduate soon!” - Viet, UW senior.

“Being a part of fall Timothy Group last quarter was a great experience! Meeting new freshman and getting to outreach to them was super fun and really rewarding for me!” - Jordan, UW senior.

“My time being a part of Timothy group has been a lot of fun as I have been meeting many freshman that are interested spiritually. Not only is it amazing to help them grow, but it also has helped me grow a lot in my own relationship with God as well.” - Amiel, UW senior.
